Vinotemp Wine Cooler
The Vinotemp 12 Bottle Wine Cooler is a wonderful product for the price. If you’ve ever owned a wine cellar or cooler, and keep up with the trade, you know Vinotemp is top shelf. There are two zones in the Vinotemp Wine Cooler which can be varied between 44 and 66 degrees. The cabinet is done smartly and will fit into any decor. One of the nicest features I found while reviewing this product is that there is no obtrusive panel that would get soiled through use. The LED touch pad is on the inside, so you can clean the outside of the unit without fear of changing the temperatures or humidity.
One of my favorite features of the Vinotemp Wine Cooler is that there is practically no vibration. As you may know, wine must be stored where it will encounter little to no vibration because movement can have a detrimental affect on wine. This particular unit uses a thermoelectric cooling device that simply doesn’t vibrate and has no noise because there isn’t a compressor. You’ll find other models are noisier and do vibrate the wine on the racks.
The fact is, if you spend thousands of dollars a year on your wine, you need to invest in something that will protect your investment. Keeping wine close to where you entertain is possible with the Vinotemp Wine Cooler. You can place the unit where you will need it the most because empty it really isn’t that heavy. Please do your due diligence when researching wine cellars.
I did find that compared to a few of the other 12 bottle wine coolers on the market that the wire racks on the Vinotemp Wine Cooler are thinner, more flimsy, but still plenty strong to hold the wine in place. In checking the two zone temperatures, I found they stuck pretty close, within a degree or two, of the number indicated on the LED panel. That is great and you will probably note that the Vinotemp doesn’t run as much as the other 12 bottle units out there.
There have been a few problems with units, especially Vinotemp’s VT-12TEDS, with users reporting the cooling unit stopping after a about 12 months. When this happens, the thermoelectric unit simply heats up and can definitely spoil your wine. Vinotemp can sell a new cooling module for around $50. So make sure the retailer you buy this from will stand behind at least a year-long warranty on the product. You certainly don’t want your wine spoiling and it appears this has been an ongoing problem with the VT-12TEDS unit.
The Vinotemp Wine Cooler is made for normal sized wine bottles. If you have Pinot Noir, it may not fit into the unit. In addition, champagne bottles will not fit because of their length. If you pull the Vinotemp racks out, they will not stop and do come all the way out. Use care here so you don’t have the rack on your feet.
Find a vendor that will honor a 12 month warranty on the product and will offer you free shipping on the Vinotemp Wine Cooler.
